The Weight of Winter

It is always difficult for me to see the garden fade with the coming of winter. It seems such a pity to see the flowers fade.

The roses don't give up easily. There always seems to be a bud or two hanging on until Christmas, blooming against all the odds.

For me, winter has a weight to it. It comes a such a cost to the delicate things. In my painting, this fragile rose struggles on and shows its beauty in spite of the cold and the snowy burden it bears.
