This is a very fun watercolor commissioned by one of my collectors. The branches in this unusual old tree grew back into each other and created a keyhole window. This special tree was growing in their backyard overlooking Puget Sound until a recent wind storm broke the top off. Apparently a family a raccoons had been living in the tree, too! I'm so glad to have been able to recreate this fascinating tree in its all former glory in a painting.
